How to read a battery listing
Seven numbers decide whether a battery is right for you. Here is what each one means on our product pages.
- Warranty — e.g. 36 months (18 + 18)
- The first figure is FULL REPLACEMENT: a genuine failure in that window gets you a brand-new battery, free. The second is PRO RATA — a discount on a new one, scaled to the months left. The full-replacement half is the part worth paying for.
- Ah (ampere hour)
- How much charge it holds, which sets your backup time. Your inverter's manual states the Ah it is built around. Going higher is safe; going lower shortens both the backup and the battery's life.
- CCA (cold cranking amps)
- Car and bike batteries only — the punch available to turn a cold engine over. Never fit lower CCA than your vehicle came with, whatever the Ah says.
- Type
- Flat plate, tubular, short tubular, gel/VRLA or lithium. Fixed by the manufacturer on a car; your choice on an inverter.
- Dimensions & terminal layout
- L × W × H, plus which side the positive terminal sits on. A battery that fits the tray but has its terminals reversed will not reach the cables — this is the single most common wrong-part order.
- Month & year of manufacture
- Printed on every battery we ship, and never old stock. Warranty runs from the invoice date, not the manufacture date — so a battery that sat on a shelf costs you real warranty months.
- The two prices
- WITH old battery assumes you hand over your dead one of the same Ah at delivery. WITHOUT assumes you keep it. The gap is the exchange value, and it is fixed on the listing rather than argued at your door.

Questions before you order
It is the exchange price. Hand your dead battery of the same Ah rating to the technician at delivery and you pay the lower figure; keep it and you pay the higher one. Both appear on every product page, so there is nothing left to negotiate at the door. If your old battery is a smaller Ah it still has value — tell us what you have and we'll confirm the amount before dispatch.
“36 months (18 + 18)” means that for the first 18 months a genuine failure gets you a brand-new battery at no cost. For the following 18 it is pro rata: a discount on a replacement, worked out from the warranty months you have not used. When you are comparing two batteries, compare the full-replacement halves — that is the part with no cost attached to it.
Yes, on every battery we deliver. A car battery takes fifteen to twenty minutes, and that includes checking that your alternator is charging properly — because replacing a battery without checking the charging system just kills the new one too. Inverter batteries take longer when the trolley or wiring needs changing.
Your inverter's manual states the Ah it is designed around, and that is the figure to match. Higher gives longer backup and is perfectly safe; lower shortens both the backup and the battery's life. Tell us your inverter model and roughly how many hours of cut you get, and we'll size it for you.
The month and year of manufacture are printed on every battery we ship, and we do not send out old stock. Warranty runs from your invoice date rather than the manufacture date, which is exactly why the date is worth checking — wherever you buy.
Contact us with your invoice number. We collect the battery, test it and handle the claim with the manufacturer ourselves, so you are not sent to a service centre. Inside the full-replacement window you get a new one; inside the pro rata window we tell you the discounted price before doing anything.

Buying a battery online, without the guesswork
A battery is the one part of a car that gives almost no warning before it strands you, and the one part of a home inverter that decides whether the fans stay on through a cut. Both are commodity goods sold at wildly different prices by the same handful of manufacturers — which is precisely why buying one online ought to be simpler than walking into a shop, not harder.
So everything that normally gets decided at the counter is printed on the listing instead. The MRP and the discount. The warranty, split into its full-replacement and pro rata halves rather than quoted as one flattering number. The capacity, the type, the dimensions and the terminal side. And both prices — with your old battery exchanged, and without — so the scrap value is a published figure rather than something argued about on your doorstep.
Every battery listed here is brand new and carries the manufacturer's own warranty, with its month and year of manufacture printed on the case. Nothing is refurbished and nothing is relabelled. Automotive batteries need no servicing of any kind: a sealed maintenance-free battery is fitted and then forgotten until its warranty runs out.
