Warranty explained

Every battery here is quoted like this: 36 months (18 months full replacement + 18 months pro rata). Those two halves are worth very different things.

Full replacement

A genuine manufacturing failure inside this window gets you a brand-new battery at no cost. Nothing pro-rated, nothing to top up. When you compare two batteries, compare these months — this is the part with no cost attached.

Pro rata

After that, a failure earns you a discount on a replacement rather than a free one, worked out from the warranty months you had not used. A battery that fails with 6 of 18 pro rata months left earns a proportionally smaller discount than one that fails with 17 left.

When the clock starts

On your invoice date, not the manufacture date. That is why the month and year stamped on the case is worth checking wherever you buy — a battery that spent eight months on a shelf has spent none of your warranty, but it has spent eight months of its shelf life.

What is not covered

  • Physical damage — cracked case, broken terminals.
  • Deep discharge from a faulty alternator, or from a vehicle left standing for weeks.
  • Topping up with anything other than distilled water on batteries that need topping up.
  • Fitting the wrong Ah or CCA for the application.

The first two are charging and usage problems rather than battery defects, and they are the most common reasons a claim is refused. It is also why our technician checks the charging system when fitting.

Making a claim

Contact us with your invoice number. We collect the battery, test it and handle the claim with the manufacturer ourselves — you are not sent to a service centre. Inside the full-replacement window you get a new one; inside pro rata we quote you the discounted price before doing anything.
